Emilia Milcheva: Borisov realized a little too late that these protests were dragging GERB as well - 1

After the mass protests in the country and the resignation of the “Zhelyazkov“ cabinet, political analysts comment in the Nova TV studio on the consequences and possible scenarios for the coming months.

“Borisov wanted to wait to say that GERB brought us into the eurozone. He could have stood up with greater strength and power than before, if the figure of Mr. Peevski had not been there and if it had not been for these such large protests. He realized a little too late that these demonstrations were dragging GERB as well. So it was time to really announce this resignation of the government, before some of the coalition partners did so”, believes journalist Emilia Milcheva.

Political scientist Assoc. Prof. Stoycho Stoychev from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski“ commented that after the resignation, all folders with mandates will be returned to the president when the procedure begins.

“The second political force, which will receive the folder, said that it wants elections immediately. That is, there is no point in thinking about this scenario at all with their possible postponement. They will also return the mandate. And the third party of the president's choice, I don't know who he will give it to. He has always given it to the BSP. I don't know if he will do it this time, given that they were in the ruling coalition. But whatever the third party does, it can delay the process for five to seven days at most. After which new elections will be scheduled. I guess somewhere in the spring, March at the earliest. We are already used to official offices. It is not something new. On the contrary, it is more news when we have a regular government“, he said.
