The deputy chairman of “There is such a people“ Stanislav Balabanov stated that the party “heard the people“ and denied that Delyan Peevski was part of the government.
In the program “Panorama“ Stanislav Balabanov stressed that he respects the protesters.
„Respect first of all for all the people who expressed their position on the square, because this is wonderful in a developed democracy and this should be a sign to all those in power“, said Stanislav Balabanov from ITN.
He added that in his opinion, those in power should “admit their mistakes and find an opportunity to correct them“, in order to give “stimulus and direction to this people to move forward“.
Asked who brought down the government, Balabanov said that the people had clearly heard:
„We heard the people. We heard the people, we heard very clearly what they wanted.“
He explained that 11 months ago it became clear that there must be a “government at all costs“ and that the ITN had two choices – to throw the country into elections or “to pay the necessary political price in the name of stability“. According to him, the ITN chose the latter.
“The government was formed by three political formations. GERB, “ There is such a people“ and the BSP. Despite all the differences between us. With one supporting element - the APS. When the APS understood that everyone at the table wanted only positions and power in the country, we did not accept the approach of state institutions protecting people under investigation by the prosecutor's office. That is why we stopped accepting their support and they left because they saw that they had no political umbrella. Then the government was left with three political formations. The so-called minority government. And in order to fulfill all these necessary things, Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone, into Schengen, the policy on legislation, we sought the necessary support in the hall.
On many laws, in the interest of truth and on the laws on the PVU, we received support from the PP-DB. And from other political formations. It is clear that “ MRF - New Beginning“ supported a series of bills, but the difference between us and them is that Mr. Peevski was in no way part of the government of the state. Neither in the executive branch, nor in the legislative branch. And in those notorious, 10 days before the fall of this government, when there was speculation on the topic, why ITN is silent and what is happening, does “ MRF - New Beginning” want to be clear in power, thanks to our efforts and the conversations between the partners, we made it so that MRF, when it considers supporting good legislation for Bulgaria, can do so only in the hall. They did not receive, as you know, either chairmen of committees, or ministers. They were not an official part of this government"
Balabanov showed photos and made a comparison with the behavior of PP–DB, when they were part of a government with MRF.
„The difference is that when „ We continue the change“, they want to be in power, they want to be part of this government, for them MRF is not a problem, and Mr. Peevski has changed for the better. When they are in opposition and when they are not in power, for them, of course, it is a huge problem, using the energy of everyone in the square at the moment, to wash away their shame“, Balabanov commented.
Asked about the arrogance and the case with the young doctors, he admitted:
„Of course, we also made mistakes along the way. I am speaking emotionally… I interpret the emotional approach as mistakes.“
