A 25% reduction in the household waste fee for the residents of the Sofia "Lyulin" district for 2026 due to the garbage crisis is proposed by the mayor of the district, Georgi Todorov, in a report to the Sofia Municipal Council, he reports on Facebook.
Over the past three months, the garbage collection service was at a critical minimum in the "Lyulin" district, he points out and adds that it is fair and responsible to the citizens that they be compensated for the failure to perform this activity. According to Todorov, this is a gesture of commitment and understanding of the waste problem. He calls on all municipal councilors, regardless of their party affiliation, to exercise common sense and vote positively for his proposal.
Yesterday, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev joined a volunteer waste cleanup campaign in the "Lyulin" area, in which Todorov did not participate, commenting on the words "he is generally absent when he has something to do".
During the week in "Lyulin", 10-11 trucks transported waste on the ground, and during the weekend 7-8 trucks, the mayor of the capital informed yesterday. All the necessary equipment for the normal waste removal is expected in early January.
