What is happening on the political map does not give us reason for optimism. 2025 began with hopes. After the long election spiral, a coalition government was able to be constituted. These hopes were very quickly exhausted and citizens went out en masse to protest. This was stated by sociologist Elena Darieva in "Denyat ON AIR".
The picture in the next elections
According to political scientist Assoc. Prof. Milen Lyubenov, the old red lines between political parties have appeared.
"GERB is seriously losing electorally and with the resignation they tried to minimize the damage. The protest energy in the country can seriously affect the pre-election situation if it leads to an increase in voter turnout", he added for Bulgaria ON AIR.
The biggest change that we can be sure of is the increased willingness to vote in the next early parliamentary vote, Darieva is convinced.
"If the president is the new political player, the political puzzle will certainly change significantly. Our research shows that between 400,000 and 500,000 more Bulgarians express their willingness to go and vote. The exercise of power has a price and the ruler pays it, usually in elections", explained the guest.
New political projects are being sought
According to Assoc. Prof. Lyubenov in the next elections, the big surprise will be the serious electoral collapse of GERB.
"There is a search for new political entities. The "Alpha Research" survey indicates that 40% of Bulgarians would vote for an entirely new political party, with 20% of them being for Radev's party. There is a convergence between GERB and PP-DB. My expectations are that it will continue in the coming months. GERB is experiencing serious electoral erosion. "If this outflow continues, we could see a result of under 400,000 votes for the party," the political scientist pointed out.
