The intense rainfall broke the levee on the Telki Dere River near the Pazardzhik village of Gelemenovo, flooding streets and houses, bTV reported.
Atanas Shopov, a municipal councilor in Pazardzhik, reported about the crisis situation on his Facebook profile.
„Today, on Christmas, instead of light and celebration, there is water and fear in the village of Gelemenovo. The first houses are under water, flooded by the Telki Dere River. Together with my colleague Rumen Dimitrov, we are on the ground – with 6 trucks, 2 excavators and a rock mass from his base. We are working non-stop, no matter the time, no matter the holiday, to stop the disaster and help people. Because there are times when Christmas is not on the table – but on the ground, next to the people. In difficult times, the biggest holiday is debt“ wrote Popov.
Water has also flooded part of the Pazardzhik - Boshulya road, about 2 km after the fork in the road to the village of Yunatsite, local websites report.
