Dimitar Manolov: Our entry into the eurozone is a quantum leap - 1

2026 is one of the most important years in the last 3 decades. The reason is that joining the eurozone - with all the remarks that can be made, is an epochal event. It is a quantum leap. An epochal event. And the fact that we are entering without a regular budget is an extremely bad sign in my opinion. This was commented on the program “Your Day” on NOVA News by the president of the KT “Podkrepa” Dimitar Manolov.

He recalled that all countries that have entered the eurozone, including those that founded it - have experienced shocks within the framework of this process. "And when this process is not managed well enough, or not managed at all, things develop in a bad way", Manolov emphasized.

In his words, the blame for the lack of an adopted budget lies with "everyone who created it". "Everyone, without exception. They played tricks for a long time and finally brought us to this situation. Their arguments were more political than substantive", he explained.

And he added: "The first budget had some errors in the approach. The first and second budgets, to be honest, did not differ in philosophy, but only in parameters. Another issue was the delay in consideration in the National Assembly. I cannot say whether the participation of employers in the meeting was a skillful political move. Then came the option of “Budget 2.0“, in which all the shortcomings were removed“.

The president of the “Podkrepa” trade union coalition was categorical that the unions were not satisfied with the extended budget law.

“Because it is a regression. It sets the state back a year – both from the first law and from the opportunity to move forward. We are not just talking about salaries. This also concerns investment programs and the programs of the municipalities – everything goes back. Regarding salaries, there is a theoretical possibility that things can be fixed, because in the Budget Committee we heard from a politician: “We will fix the salaries later“. But investment programs cannot start from the middle of the year, because they are related to public procedures,” he recalled.
