Assen Vassilev: As long as we are governed by phone calls, we will not become a normal country - 1

The chairman of "We continue the change" Assen Vassilev commented at a meeting with supporters in Kardzhali that as long as the country is governed by phone calls, we will not become a normal country and noted that it must be governed by law.

He commented that there are still several months until the end of the second payment under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, during which politically neutral leadership must be put in place and if this does not happen, next year the payments will finally stop. He recalled that our country was the only country without medical helicopters, but thanks to the recovery plan, they have already been purchased.

Vassilev expressed satisfaction that Kardzhali took advantage of the program for municipalities adopted with the 2024 budget, adding that the program in question was subsequently flawed. “Because there are over 150 municipalities in Bulgaria that are waiting for payment. They have projects, they have started work and they are not given money. There are another 30 municipalities that are being paid money and this is not by law, but because they decided to take pictures in an office under the coat of arms and this is exactly what we are fighting for“, said Asen Vassilev.

In front of those present, he also commented on the topic of the so-called Revival process, one of the reasons why he was in the region together with his party colleagues. Vassilev emphasized that fortunately these events are in the past.

Although they now tried to separate Christians from Muslims, it did not work and the exact opposite effect was achieved, they forcibly took out some people, supposedly to protest under the slogan “NO to hate“, but they were carrying some hate posters, added Asen Vassilev. He noted that the twice as many people who came out to the protest on December 10 this year spoke about how “people want to live without being robbed and no one trying to scare them that they will take their jobs, that they will take their businesses if they do not obey this or that“.

During his visit to Kardzhali, he was accompanied by MPs Nikolay Denkov and Aylin Pehlivanova. At the meeting, Kardzhali residents asked to talk about the economy, development and the future of the young generation. Among those present were representatives of other political parties, who also asked questions.

After the meeting in Kardzhali, Asen Vassilev, Nikolay Denkov and party members expressed their intention to visit the Turkian fountain in the Kirkovo village of Mogilyan to honor the victims of the Revival Process and 41 years since the December events.
