A magnificent light and torch show illuminated the slopes of the Borovets ski resort on the occasion of the opening of the 2025/26 ski season. From early morning, a number of sports activities, a diverse musical program, free barbecue and hot drinks were organized at the foot of the slopes in front of the "Rila" hotel.
This year, the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria celebrates 130 years since its establishment. The beginning was laid in 1896, when the place was known as Chamkoria and served as a summer residence and hunting lodge of the Bulgarian kings.
Over time, the small mountain village became a symbol of organized tourism in our country. The first chalets, alleys and villas gave impetus to its development, and in the 20th century Borovets gradually established itself as a center of winter sports. It was here that the traditions in skiing were born, which later raised the resort to international recognition.
The daily ticket for the season is priced at 105.61 BGN / 54 EUR. For young people up to 22 years old and adults over 65 years old - 43 EUR, and for children between 7 and 13 years old - 32 EUR.
