Assoc. Prof. Burudzhieva: Rumen Radev will not enter the political scene for these elections - 1

It never occurred to anyone that employers and some political parties would organize this protest against the budget. This is the reason why a few months ago no one commented and talked about the resignation of the cabinet. Only the protest can give rise to such an action, which cannot be predicted.

This was stated in the program "The Day Live" on NOVA NEWS by political scientist Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Burudzhieva, who commented on the events of the outgoing year 2025.

"In 1997, the protests had a much stronger economic motive than those now. "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) managed to connect the current protests with those of 1997, but they are very different. In 2020, we also saw powerful protests, but they were divided into several centers. Now we have returned to protests that unite. In December, the opposition united, unlike the no-confidence votes in the plenary hall.

However, for something to come out of these protests in the elections, there must be some unifying axis, which is not visible at this moment.

Elections are a battle between politicians, and citizens go to the elections with the idea that all politicians are the same and nothing happens. A sociological survey showed that over 40% want to vote for something new, which for me means that we are again waiting for the messiah and are hovering in the clouds," she added.

"The revival process is an extremely ugly metaphor. In today's dispute between Boyko Borisov and PP-DB, everyone was trying to show their point of view.

There cannot and should not be fenced yards that a political party cannot enter. On the other hand, I know many Bulgarian Turks and I can say that in order to enter their yard, you have to be invited, because they are a little more conservative.

The PP-DB's visit to the Turkian fountain is an attempt to maintain the energy of the protest, but this cannot last for three months and for me their action was rather an extreme act. Yes, you can go humbly and explain to these people what policies you are offering them, but such PR actions are unacceptable", the political scientist commented on today's absentee debate between GERB leader Boyko Borisov and PP-DB.

"It is good for politicians to think that in early April there are Palm Sunday and Easter. These are a different type of holidays. Let them be careful with this delay in the elections, so that it does not turn out that on Easter we will create what we created before the New Year. People can go to the polls and sweep everyone away.

Small parties can receive an unexpectedly large number of votes. The battle for me will be for second place, because PP-DB with their aggressive statements that they will win 121 seats is not doing themselves a favor, but on the contrary - it is playing against them.

In my opinion, Rumen Radev will not enter the political scene for these elections. We have been waiting for him for so long. Now for me the situation in the country is not so worrying and he will not enter the elections," she predicted.

"For me, Bulgarian politicians have no real idea of what is happening in the world. European politicians have also shown that they cannot prioritize the important things. I am talking about the green deal, which I am firmly against.

Europe cannot behave like an old ostrich that has buried its head and does not care what is happening around it, concluded Assoc. Prof. Burudzhieva.
