After the meeting of "Dondukov" 2 with President Iliana Yotova, the deputy governor of the BNB, Petar Chobanov, stated that he would not accept to take on the post of caretaker prime minister.
In the previous procedures, I stated that I would take on the post of caretaker prime minister if I thought that there was a danger of a constitutional crisis and no one else would agree. Now the list has been expanded, some, when they were elected, were clearly aware that they could be candidates and have expressed their agreement, so I do not think that there will be a constitutional crisis at the moment. I do not think that I am currently needed in this role. I think I can be very useful to the state by doing my job at the BNB, Chobanov said. The answer at the moment is "no" from the point of view of the fact that I do not see a risk of a constitutional crisis, he added.
According to him, the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria is going relatively smoothly.
I think people will start to calm down. Of course, an important stage is from February 1, when we will pay only in euros, but I think that this will also be successful, the deputy governor of the BNB pointed out.
We had an in-depth conversation with the president about what awaits us and what the challenges are for Bulgaria. The institutional dialogue should also continue with the cabinet. We will defend a worthy European position, said Petar Chobanov.
We recall that earlier today, the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Dimitar Radev also refused to take the post, and yesterday, the Speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan did so.
