Consultations with President Iliana Yotova for the acting prime minister continue. After the refusal of the Speaker of the Parliament Raya Nazaryan, the Governor of the BNB Dimitar Radev and the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Petar Chobanov to take up the position, the meetings of "Dondukov 2" continued with a conversation with the Second Deputy Governor of the BNB Radoslav Milenkov. He is the head of the "Banking Supervision" and "Issue" departments.

The meeting between President Iliana Yotova and Milenkov was closed to the media.

The Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Radoslav Milenkov categorically stated that he would not accept the post of acting prime minister. He emphasized that his position has been clearly expressed many times and does not come as a surprise. “I gave the same answer I have given the last three times - I will not become the acting prime minister“, Milenkov said.

As the main reason for his refusal, he cited his commitments to the European Central Bank. Milenkov reminded that he heads the “Banking Supervision“ and “Issue“ departments at the BNB and is a member of the ECB Supervisory Board. “I am aware of the arguments. They are related to the responsibilities I have“, he specified.

According to him, his position is consistent and has not changed over time. “I think my answer is not surprising. This is a position that I state once again“, added the Deputy Governor of the BNB.

After him, the third Deputy Governor of the central bank - Andrey Gyurov - arrives for consultations.

We recall that the officials who can occupy the position are 10 in total. On January 29, at 1 p.m., the head of state will receive the Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva, and at 2 p.m. - the Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova.

On January 30, Yotova will meet with the Chairman and Deputy Chairmen of the Court of Accounts - Dimitar Glavchev, Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kadreva.

The date for the early parliamentary elections also depends on the signing of the decree appointing a caretaker government, and they must be held within two months of the start of the interim government.
