A protest in front of the Military Medical Academy under the slogan "Maya, we have not forgotten you" was held on Saturday. The dog was run over in November by a resident at the medical facility, and the footage caused mass outrage. Today's dissatisfaction of the protesters is because, according to them, Dr. Nenad Tsonevski has been reinstated to work.
The protest is organized by the "Mecho and Friends" association, which is calling for the revocation of Dr. Tsonevski's medical license, as well as his removal from the medical facility. The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office confirmed to BNT that the doctor has been charged. We reached out to the Military Medical Academy for comment on the subject, but did not receive a response.
Zlatin Mladenski, "Mecho and Friends" association: "We want the doctor who killed the dog Maya to be suspended from work, at least until the prosecutor's office and the court decide whether he is guilty or not. We want the Bulgarian Medical Association to investigate itself and assess whether this act committed by him complies with their code of ethics or not."
Atanas and Elena Stoimenov: "If he allows himself to show such cruelty against an animal in a normal state, imagine what he could do if he was under pressure and dealing with a person."
