Three barges broke away from the "Sever" port in Vidin and started free sailing on the Danube River, causing damage to public infrastructure.
This was announced by the regional governor of Vidin, Ani Harutyunyan.
The incident occurred at around 3.35 am on February 1.
According to her, several railings were damaged as a result of the incident, as well as pontoon No. 6. The cause of the incident was a technical malfunction and non-compliance with safety regulations. Two ships were located at the 773rd kilometer of the river, for which it can be reasonably assumed that they were the vessels that caused the damage. The ships have been detained, the regional governor specified.
Ani Harutyunyan added that all circumstances, as well as the specific reasons that led to the incident, are currently being clarified.
