In North Macedonia, they don't speak on behalf of Skopje and the interests of the people of Skopje, but on behalf of Belgrade, Budapest and the Kremlin, who have no interest in Northern Macedonia developing.
This is their century-old policy, directed against Bulgarian interests in the Balkans, and we cannot expect any goodwill or any dose of common sense. This was said in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio FOCUS by Angel Dzambazki – MEP from VMRO in the period 2014-2024.
In his words, for 2 years now the European Commission has been powerless to implement the French Agreement in practice and the concessions we are asking for to give up our legal claims are meaningless, because the EC is unable to force Skopje to do what they even voted for in the Macedonian parliament. “The saga that has been going on for 2 years is a slap in the face for Brussels. And here both the Europeans and our Bulgarian political activists have been fooled once again, but they cannot be exonerated, because this is yet another trick they are organizing and offering to the people of Skopje. They are playing them, they are playing them, they are mocking European decisions,“ he said and added that in this way the EC is trying to circumvent the problems, but along the way it creates new ones.
"Skopje knows that there is no mechanism to force it, and that is why it is acting like a fool,“ Dzambazki also pointed out and added that this gives people like Mickoski the freedom to mock, ridicule and not comply with any European regulations and rules. According to him, the problem lies with both the Bulgarian and European authorities, where double standards are applied. "The EC is pretending not to see the outrages of the self-forgetful brats in Skopje, who know that there is no one to tell them "shut up". Why did we sign these agreements, why did we give in then, when they will tell us to mind our own business? Because that is what they are doing. Where is the fair, equidistant gesture of the European institutions? Where is the wise, consistent and fair decision of the European Commission? Two years of nothing,“ he added with bitterness.
There is no Macedonian community in Bulgaria and the demands for the recognition of a Macedonian community in Bulgaria are completely groundless, Dzambazki is categorical. "The Republic of Bulgaria and our Constitution do not recognize national minorities, they recognize individual rights. Everyone has the right to self-determination, but not to a group. There has never been such a Macedonian community, it was created with a monstrous crime of the Bulgarian Communist Party, which with its decisions after the coup and the pogrom of September 9 tried to hand over Pirin Macedonia to Yugoslavia. And then, in a period of 7-8 years, they tried to create with great violence a great regenerative process, not a regenerative, but a regenerative process, a Macedonian nation. This crashed, everything was burned, documents were destroyed and after the April plenum all this was forgotten. So these stories of Mickoski are delusions. Everyone knows it. The question is: why do those who know, the European institutions, pretend to be "neither ate onions nor smelled onions"? Here, that is my question."
