The chairman of the parliamentary group of the “BSP-United Left” Dragomir Stoynev rejected the definition of “infarction” or “crisis” congress, emphasizing that the main task of the forum is the mobilization of the party before the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
On BNT, he emphasized that the collective opinion in the party is the leading one, not the position of individual leaders.
„The important thing is that the collective spirit continues to reign in the BSP, because ultimately it is not so important what the specific leader or chairman of the parliamentary group thinks, what is important is what the members of the party think“, he also said.
According to him, the National Council has already made a decision to hold the congress, and the delegates must determine the direction for the future.
„At this congress, we must also answer the question of how we continue from now on, because ultimately we have elections not only for parliament, but also in October and September there will be elections for the president“, he pointed out Stoynev.
Regarding the leadership issue in the party, the chairman of the parliamentary group stated that the decision will be made by the Congress, while the report of the current chairman Atanas Zafirov is expected.
„We are eagerly awaiting this report from Chairman Zafirov, so that it becomes clear to us whether he will resign or continue the course forward. If he resigns, therefore, we must elect a new person here“, said Stoynev.
He expressed hope for a constructive debate.
„I hope for a truly comradely debate. I hope for a comradely battle, more of a competition. Let the best one win“, he added.
On the topic of possible interaction with a political project of President Rumen Radev, Stoynev commented that such a project is competitive with the BSP.
