A complete ban on the distribution and sale of nicotine pouches in our country is proposed by the BSP parliamentary group and deputies from "Democratic Bulgaria" with two separate bills.
The proposals will be considered at first reading in the Economic Policy Committee.
Nicotine pouches are small bags that are placed in the mouth and release nicotine by sucking. They are widespread among young people, and their use can lead to a short but strong stimulant effect, accompanied by dizziness, nausea, and palpitations, indicate deputies from BSP, who are the initiators of one of the proposals for their complete ban in our country.
The bill stipulates that products already on the market will continue to be sold until the quantities are exhausted, but no later than 2 months after the ban comes into force.
According to the reasons of the deputies from "Democratic Bulgaria", there is no legal regulation of nicotine pouches in our country, which do not contain tobacco and do not fall under the control of the Ministry of Health or other authorities.
Their packaging indicates that they are prohibited from sale to persons under 18 years of age, but they are freely distributed among young people in alcohol and cigarette stores, as well as online. At the same time, they create risks, such as developing addiction, high blood pressure, and heart problems.
