The President announced the agenda of Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov VIDEO - 1

President Iliana Yotova thanked for the consultations held with the parties. Regarding the handing over of the mandate to form a government to Andrey Gyurov, BNT reported.

"Only he resigns from the post of Deputy Governor of the BNB, doubts about a conflict of interest are eliminated", the President said.

"The state cannot stop, we have commitments", Iliana Yotova recalled.

According to her words, Gyurov's assumption of the post will lead to shared responsibility with the National Assembly for the most important tasks in the state of both internal and external nature. She also indicated that during the consultations with the parliamentary parties, the most pressing problems in the country were outlined.

Among them, she listed - measures to hold fair and transparent elections, measures to control prices, stabilize the state's finances in a situation without a budget, as well as an investigation into the "Petrokhan" case.

I focused on the candidacy of Andrey Gyurov, since he is the only one resigning as deputy governor of the BNB, doubts about a conflict of interest are eliminated, I do not subject the representatives of the BNB, the Court of Auditors and the Ombudsman institution to doubts about political affiliation. I expect fair and well-prepared elections to be held, as well as shared responsibility between the caretaker cabinet and the National Assembly for resolving important issues for the country. This is how President Iliana Yotova explained her choice of Andrey Gyurov as acting prime minister, NovaTV specified.

"The changes to the Constitution left the presidential institution without a choice, and the goal was to cut its powers, contrary to European law on the separation of powers and their mutual control. Thus, each candidate for acting prime minister was pre-selected by a political majority. The changes to the Constitution led to extreme polarization in terms of candidates. Instead of the most suitable for the position, the choice is whether to be from the status quo or the opposition," she added.

This came to pass after five people from the so-called “house book” gave their consent to take the position of acting prime minister, and on February 11 Yotova nominated Gyurov.

He is expected to present a list of ministers to be appointed so that the acting government can function.

According to Yotova, the talks with the parties have outlined the agenda of the caretaker cabinet. ''Among the main priorities are stabilizing the state's finances under a euro-free budget, immediate measures to control prices, regulating electricity prices, quick measures for the most vulnerable, resolving the "Petrokhan" case, fulfilling commitments to our partners, as well as protecting Bulgaria's interests internationally. I count on Gyurov to present a cabinet without political pressure and to take responsibility as prime minister for the ministers he will propose - they will not be my choice," the president was categorical.

Andrei Gyurov accepted the task assigned to him to form a caretaker cabinet, emphasizing that the situation is unusual, but he accepts the trust with a sense of responsibility. He stated that his main priority will be fair elections, restoring trust in institutions and calm work without unnecessary hysteria. Gyurov indicated that he will assemble a team of experts with experience and public authority who will not take political positions or behave aggressively.

After the meeting with the president, he specified that he was not yet ready with the names of the ministers, but the talks are ahead and will take place in a short time. Among the key tasks will be the preparation of fair elections, the preparation of a long-term budget and ensuring a smooth transition to a regular government. Gyurov stressed that the cabinet will be independent of parties, without “front men“, and the interior minister must be a professional from the system with an undisputed reputation.
