Vasil Pandov: GDBOP are involved in the "Petrohan" story - 1

The work of the deputies in the National Assembly (NA) began today with a scandal over the "Petrohan" case.

"We witnessed a political farce. The tragic case is being used for base political purposes. Undoubtedly, this case has many problems that are being posed before our country," commented the deputy from PP-DB Assoc. Prof. Vasil Pandov in the program "Denyat ON AIR".

In his words, if we had a state in place, there should have been extremely quick actions of the investigation from the very first days. "A strong state would have conducted an adequate investigation.

Many questions arise for me. If the investigation is inadequate, this is part of the explanation that the State Agency for National Security (SANS) monitored this organization," Assoc. Prof. Pandov told Bulgaria ON AIR.

He reported on members of "We Continue the Change" who say that they have been reporting against the hut since 2022. The MP noted that it is alleged that the owner of the hut - Ivo Kalushev - was an agent of SANS.

"The question is what is SANS doing? Instead of preventing such a tragedy, they indirectly contributed to it. When an institution has signals, monitors, but is passive - the institutions have somehow participated in this activity by not taking any action. It is obvious that they are complicit," said Assoc. Prof. Pandov. "Why didn't the law propose a limit on the weapons that a person can have? The law has had a loophole so far. There are dozens of organizations that call themselves "agency", "service", etc. The investigation must eliminate all possible fears of society," the deputy from the PP-DB emphasized.

According to him, the Main Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime" (GDBOP) has "involved in the story".

"One of the young people said that he had filed signals and had spoken to GDBOP", noted Assoc. Prof. Pandov.

"If the National Security Agency had observations and had cooperation with these people, this is an umbrella over them", stated the MP.

He is of the opinion that the big problem is that "the seventh victim of this tragedy is the Bulgarian state".

In his words, this case brings up many systemic problems such as the problem of drug addicts and addicts in general.

"The Bulgarian state does not help in any way parents with children with such addictions", also pointed out Assoc. Prof. Pandov and emphasized that "we have a deficit of legality". According to him, the election of Andrey Gyurov as acting prime minister is a good step towards fair elections and expectations are high. "He has the weight to turn the whole paradigm around. Of all the candidates for prime minister, he is the one who could do it the most. But whether he could or whether it will happen - these are two different things," the MP noted.
