Bozhanov: Declassify all documents on the "Petrohan" case - 1

All documents related to the activities of Ivaylo Kalushev's group, including the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its services over the years, should be declassified and published, so that we can understand whether the tragedy with the six people who died in the "Petrohan" hut and on Okolchitsa could have been prevented.

This was called for in an interview on BTV by the co-chair of "Yes, Bulgaria" and MP from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Bozhidar Bozhanov. He recalled that the PP-DB asked a question in parliament to the the chairman of the National Security Agency Denyo Denev whether there were people in Kalushev's group who collaborated with the National Security Agency, and he said that he could not answer in an open session. And he added that such information was also requested for Martin Bozhanov - the Notary, after the then Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev had extracted information that he was a collaborator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Denev was photographed talking to a GERB MP (former Interior Minister Hristo Terziyski) during the break before the closed session of the National Assembly - Bozhanov continued - and then at the closed session he said - you did not understand me. “They quickly understood what a blunder Denev had made, he cannot even lie well, and he could have simply said “no, they were not collaborators””,”, said Bozhanov. That is why the PP-DB wanted all the information on the case, including whether there were special intelligence means in the hut, but the parliamentary majority did not allow this request to be included in their agenda in two committees.

According to the party leader, in addition to Denev's answer that there were SANS collaborators in Kalushev's group, this is also indicated by the statements of one of the witnesses that when signals were filed against him, Kalushev learned about them very quickly from the services. “Why, if you are not a collaborator, do you receive information that there are signals against you and your organization”, Bozanov asked.

“Our approach has always been institutional and the question is whether the institutions knew that there was a risk of this happening and were inactive. If there was an umbrella over Kalushev's group, it was from the Ministry of Interior and the services, said the co-chairman of "Yes, Bulgaria". He rejected the accusations of PP and DB's involvement in this inaction during the "Denkov" cabinet, because the two formations never had control over the services and the Ministry of Interior. Already in the second or third month it became clear that Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov reported to Peevski, and Denyo Denev's resignation was requested even after the case of the cancellation of the machine vote in the local elections.

“If something was bothering us, we would not have wanted all the documents to be published, and they would have hidden them - it would have been the opposite. The job of the parliament is to guarantee Bulgarian citizens that the institutions will protect them. That's why we say - let's see the documents and was there a way to prevent what happened,” said Bozhidar Bozhanov.

The co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria” announced that negotiations have not yet begun in the PP-DB coalition for the candidate lists. “Our goal is for them to be a tool with which to demand more trust from Bulgarian citizens. And for people to be able to say - this is why I want to vote for them, i.e. not only for policies, but also for specific people”, said Bozhidar Bozhanov.

He is convinced that Andrey Gyurov will make his own decisions about the composition of the caretaker government and that it will be neutral in order to guarantee fair elections - and not like the cabinets of Dimitar Glavchev, which not only did not stop, but also helped buy votes.
