The MPs will discuss five bills for amendments and supplements to the Health Act at first reading, according to the draft program of the parliament for this week. The changes are the first item on the proposed agenda, BTA reports.

The Parliamentary Committee on Health has approved two of the bills - one submitted by Lachezar Ivanov from GERB-SDF and a group of MPs, and the other - by Vasil Pandov ("We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria") and a group of MPs.
The legislative changes submitted by Lachezar Ivanov aim to limit access to nitrous oxide, especially for minors, introduce stricter rules and conditions for the sale, distribution and storage of nitrous oxide, increase administrative and criminal liability for violations and create a legal opportunity to temporarily or permanently suspend the activities of sites that systematically trade in nitrous oxide in violation of the law. The proposed amendments also provide for increased sanctions for parents and guardians who do not accompany their minor or underage children after 8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 p.m. in catering and entertainment establishments, respectively, as well as sanctions for managers of commercial establishments who allow unaccompanied minors on the territory of the establishment after 10:00 p.m.

The bill submitted by Vasil Pandov proposes improving the prevention system for early detection of diseases in the country by creating a structured preventive calendar, creating conditions for guaranteeing the financing of national health programs by the state and introducing legally defined criteria for the type and quality of food for patients in medical institutions for hospital medical care.

The Health Committee has rejected the remaining three bills - by Radostin Vassilev from "Moral, Unity, Honor" and a group of MPs, by Bozhidar Bozanov (PP-DB) and a group of MPs, and by Stella Nikolova (PP-DB) and a group of MPs.

The amendments to the Health Act, submitted by Radostin Vassilev, propose to introduce a uniform regime for medical specialists from health offices, kindergartens and nursery groups in Bulgaria.

The changes submitted by Bozhidar Bozanov, aim to create a legal opportunity for the medical expertise system to provide electronic administrative services and introduce a system for automated assessment of the risk of unlawful establishment of permanently reduced working capacity.

The draft law, submitted by Stella Nikolova, envisages creating an opportunity to overcome the existing problems in the psychiatric care system in our country, to improve the living conditions and treatment in psychiatric hospitals, to guarantee the rights of patients and to prohibit any form of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment of people with mental disorders during their treatment.
