A newborn died nearly two hours after birth at Sofia's St. Anna Hospital, his relatives from Ihtiman told BNT.

According to them, he was born weighing over 3 kg with a planned cesarean section.

After the birth, the doctors explained that the newborn had heart and lung problems, and tried to take him to the "Mother's Home". The baby's father claims that the oxygen tank had become disconnected on the way. At around 3:00 p.m., the relatives were informed that the baby had died. They called the police. And at 6:00 p.m., investigators arrived at the building of the Sofia Regional Hospital.

"They took the baby out, he had no heartbeat, and then they revived him. They started transporting him to the "Mother's Home", but the nurses hit the cart against the wall and the oxygen bottle exploded, and the baby stopped breathing. They panicked, put the cart back, moved him, and after half an hour they came out and said that the baby had died.", said Bozhidarka Dimitrova, the baby's grandmother.

The Regional Hospital is refusing to comment for now. Over the phone, the hospital's PR reported that at 1:00 p.m., after a cesarean section, a 3 kg baby boy was born, who immediately showed breathing problems and had undeveloped lungs. The 17-year-old mother is fine. The hospital is starting an internal examination.
