Milena Milotinova: High expectations don't bother me, I've built them into my concept - 1

The newly elected director general of BNT, Milena Milotinova, stated in the studio of "Panorama" that she will rely on high standards, impartiality and a civilized acceptance of the position. She said that she is not worried about the high expectations for her leadership.

"Because I have built high expectations and high goals into my concept, presented to the Council for Electronic Media and discussed at the hearing before them. So they already bind me as the general director of BNT", she pointed out.

In her words, the signed management contract obliges her to "high journalistic standards and impartiality in information", as well as to compliance with the Radio and Television Act.

Milotinova emphasized that the expectations of the public and of the media employees have equal weight:

"Both things have equal importance. For me, they have equal weight. BNT is a public television by law. It is precisely the public function that is hers."

As a first step, she announced her intention to commission a study and a serious analysis of the audience's needs and viewers' expectations in order to assess whether changes are needed in the program schedule or the creation of new formats.

On the topic of the lawsuits surrounding her election, Milotinova stated:

"I hope the judicial saga will end and not continue."

She recalled that the Supreme Administrative Court had given the opportunity for the competition to be completed:

"The Law on Radio and Television and the text in it, which states that the appeal does not suspend the implementation of the decision, protects every election of the Council for Electronic Media for Director General"

She added that appeals are a practice in every election for this position.

Milotinova expressed hope for "civilized broadcasting" and peaceful work in the media, as well as for the case to be dropped from international reports and debates.

"Television must comply with the standards for making television. If we work according to the rules, if we work according to law, and not according to someone else's expediency, we cannot help but like ourselves and not be approved," she also said.

The new director general of BNT thanked for the public and collegial support she has received.

On Friday, Milotinova won the race with three votes "for" - Gabriela Naplatanova, Kudrinka Kudrinka and the chairwoman of the CEM Simona Veleva supported her.

Prolet Velkova and Galina Georgieva voted against, who gave their votes for Nevena Andonova and the current head of BNT Emil Koshlukov, respectively, the BNR added.

The CEM yesterday listened to the four candidates who appeared - Svilena Dimitrova, Emil Koshlukov, Nevena Andonova and Milena Milotinova.

Sasho Yovkov, although admitted to the third stage of the competition, did not appear, which eliminated him from the procedure.
