The elections are a nationwide commitment, but all responsible institutions, within their powers and competencies, as determined by the legislator, must work together in full synchrony, so that we can produce free and democratic elections. Thus, we can guarantee to Bulgarian voters that they will be able to safely exercise their vote, that it will be counted as it was cast, according to their personal will. This was said by the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Kamelia Neykova at the beginning of the meeting with the acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov, a reporter for Novini.bg reported.
I believe that with joint efforts of the Council of Ministers, the ministries that have commitments in the election process, the institutions that are involved in this organization in one form or another, together, in good interaction, active work, with efforts for a lawful election process and uncompromising towards vicious practices, we will succeed, Neykova said.
I do not think that there is currently a more important task for me and for the acting government than to hold fair elections. This morning I held a meeting with student organizations and young people - those who are rarely politically active, whose voice is very rarely respected during elections. They highlighted one main priority - restoring trust in institutions. In order to have trust in the institutions, for me the most important thing is how they will be broadcast, i.e. what kind of democratic election process we will conduct, so that on the one hand people have meaning in voting, to believe that their vote will be counted correctly. From there, a true representation of the citizenry in the National Assembly and, accordingly, an increase in trust in the institutions, pointed out Andrey Gyurov.
You can count on full cooperation from the caretaker government. This is a top priority for us and we are determined to implement a very good process of holding these elections, emphasized Gyurov.
