"I think we have started to retain our cadres and we will continue, because they will very clearly realize that the BSP - their political family, has a future, that it cannot be replaced by another party, that going to another place will not replace one affiliation with another, simply one will disappear, and it should not disappear. All those who talk about the BSP's drain are unlikely to know the socialists well. This connection is very strong and it has been awakened". Thus, the new leader of the BSP Krum Zarkov answered how they will stop the socialists, who have reoriented themselves to the party of the president (2017 - 2026) Rumen Radev.
He gave a briefing after the end of the National Council meeting - the first since the socialists have a new leader. At it, the leaders of 21 lists for the upcoming elections were elected, as well as a new Executive Bureau.
The next plenary session will be held on March 7, when the lists will be completed and the leaders of the remaining ten lists, for which decisions were not made today, will be elected. Petar Kanev, who has led the list in Burgas 11 times, is giving up his seat.
"The prophecies about the BSP will not come true, but on the contrary, it is embarking on a path to restoring its importance and this is good news not only for the socialists, I assure you", said Zarkov.
"The BSP will return to Bulgarian and European politics. Concerns about the presence of military aircraft at the airport were expressed at the National Council. Despite the explanations from the Ministry of Defense, quite natural concerns continue and we will insist on an explanation of this issue. But this shows something deeper - in recent months, the feeling has been created that there is a multinational consensus on Europe's course for greater armament and militarization. This is not the case. The left-wing parties do not accept this course uncritically. The socialists clearly state that more money for armaments does not lead to greater security. This only leads to war", Zarkov pointed out and added that there is no difference in the Socialists' position on aid for Ukraine.
The meeting passed quickly and calmly.
"Stanishev has chaired our party for 13 years, he was Prime Minister, Chairman of the European Socialists, he is part of the National Council. I am very happy that he accepted, I hope we work well. Peevski has no influence over Stanishev or anyone on our lists. Even if he does, he will never break through me. Never", Zarkov assured.
"The rest of the people in the bureau are mainly mayors of municipalities and do not bear the main responsibility for the decisions made over the last year and a half.
The BSP will once again appear as the coalition "BSP - United Left".
