The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Hasan Ademov ordered the teams of the Social Assistance Agency (ASA) to be fully prepared to provide support to people affected by the deteriorating weather conditions.
Over the past 24 hours, bad weather has caused problems in a number of regions. In some settlements, damage was caused to homes and yards.
The teams of the Social Assistance Agency are ready to assist if temporary accommodation is needed. On site, they will also consult people about the disaster assistance options provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. By law, people with damaged property are entitled to assistance up to three times the poverty line - 1,171 euros, and if the damaged home is the only one, they can receive an additional 1,550 euros.
By order of Minister Ademov, the teams of the Social Assistance Agency will visit the victims in the Haskovo region, where there are flooded yards and ground floors, and in some places the electricity was also cut off.
Social workers have received instructions to also contact elderly and vulnerable people from the Ardino Municipality, where there are isolated villages due to the rise in the level of the Arda River in Kardzhali Region. ASA employees are also closely monitoring the situation in the Galabovo Municipality due to the rise in the level of the Sokolitsa River.
The agency's teams are ready to respond to other places in the country if necessary.
