The Council for Electronic Media will discuss at its meeting today a proposal from the Director General of the Bulgarian National Television to approve members of the media's Management Board.
According to the Radio and Television Act, the management boards of BNT and BNR include the respective Director General, who is the chairman of the council by law. The current management of BNT consists of Anton Andonov, Vasilena Matakeva and Hristo Tomov.
The management boards of BNR and BNT consist of five members each, approved by the Council for Electronic Media upon the proposal of the respective Directors General. In order for a member of the Management Board to be approved, four votes from the CEM members are required. If a decision is not made by a two-thirds majority at three consecutive meetings within a month, it is made by a simple majority of three votes.
On February 20, the CEM elected Milena Milotinova as the head of BNT, replacing Emil Koshlukov. On the same day, an appeal from Koshlukov against the decision to elect Milotinova was filed with the Administrative Court - Sofia Region. Koshlukov's three-year term expired in 2022, but due to appeals and a long legal saga, a new election was not possible.
