"Don't think I don't know what our package with Peevski means for GERB? But I know what the eurozone, Schengen, the Recovery and Resilience Plan means for Bulgaria. We all put the state before the party, which is why we have 20% according to the polls. The year is bad for the party, but good for the state, which is better". This was said by GERB leader Boyko Borisov during a meeting with the mayors of villages, municipalities and regional cities, which is taking place in Stara Zagora, Nova TV reports.
The GERB leader pointed out that successes for the party are the country's entry into the Peace Council, the election of Nikolay Mladenov, the introduction of our country “into the heart of Europe”, the successful talks with European leaders.
”Who has done more for this country than me and GERB? There is none”, the party leader also said. ”How will Radev stand up to compete with me? On what basis? He has been head of state for 10 years. When he says “oligarchy”, he should say which one it is. I claim that there is no oligarchy in GERB”, Borisov also said. He added that sociologists are measuring Radev's rating, but it is important which people will stand by him.
Borisov commented on Atanas Zapryanov's participation in the caretaker cabinet. “The world is at war. That is why I agreed to him staying in the government”. According to him, however, the cabinet is of PP-DB, Ahmed Dogan and Radev. He also stated that the Ministry of Interior will be of the current cabinet and it is they who will hold elections. According to Borisov, however, no one can overthrow GERB.
”GERB's positions are for peace, but we support Ukraine. I know that this leads to an outflow of voters, but these are principles”, he also stated. ”Radev is playing subtly – both for Russia, and for Europe, and for America”, Borisov added.
The GERB election program should include the interaction between the different mayors of different-sized municipalities in the country, he also said. "We will no longer budge from what we have been doing for 20 years", Borisov said. He apologized that in smaller settlements, not enough attention was paid to the problems of the larger ones.
