The Acting Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mihail Okoliyski, has suspended the procedure for awarding a public procurement contract for security at Ministry of Health sites in the country. This was announced by the press center of the health ministry.
The public procurement contract for providing a security regime by unarmed physical security at Ministry of Health sites was announced on February 18, 2026. It includes providing security during the 24-hour work regime of administrative buildings in Sofia and other parts of the country, news.bg specified.
Okoliyski decided to terminate the public procurement contract after becoming familiar with a received signal and in view of the need to guarantee full transparency and efficiency in the spending of public funds. The Ministry of Defense states that at present, the security of the Ministry's facilities is carried out under a current contract, concluded after an open procedure in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, which is in force until April 2026.
The department adds that the necessary actions will be taken to ensure the continuity of the security regime while complying with all legal requirements and the principles of publicity and transparency. The Ministry of Defense will announce a new procedure that will guarantee equal participation of all interested candidates who meet the requirements, observing the conditions for a competitive environment.
