The Acting Minister of Energy Traicho Traikov will visit the Kozloduy NPP today.
He will inspect on-site the start-up activities of the non-nuclear part of the sixth unit with a view to its inclusion in the country's energy system, the Ministry of Energy announced.
On February 27, at a briefing at the Council of Ministers, Traicho Traikov said that he would visit the nuclear power plant at the first opportunity. At that time, he commented that the Kozloduy NPP is losing tens of millions of euros due to an unsuccessful technical solution regarding the repair of a protective membrane device of a separator steam superheater of the turbine of the sixth unit, which has repeatedly failed.
On February 19, during a hearing in parliament, the executive Director of the Kozloduy NPP Ivan Andreev said that the lost profits from unproduced electricity as a result of the two forced shutdowns of the sixth unit of the Kozloduy NPP last December and this February will amount to 18 million leva and this is not a loss. Part of the amount of lost profits will be compensated for by the postponement and extension of the date for the annual scheduled maintenance, he indicated.
