The Acting Minister of Regional Development Angelina Boneva has requested to be dismissed from her post for health reasons, said the Acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov.
His statement was in response to a question from Toshko Yordanov from “Ima tak narod“, which he asked in connection with media publications according to which Boneva initially resigned, and subsequently returned to work and stated that she was subjected to pressure for personnel appointments by the deputies from the PP-DB Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov.
Toshko Yordanov's question was related to whether the resignation of the Minister of Regional Development was requested and what is the role of the Acting Prime Minister in case.
Andrey Gyurov replied that the caretaker government works with facts, not media publications.
„Ms. Boneva asked me personally to be dismissed for health reasons. She signed her resignation and these are the facts“, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Gyurov added that the documents for her dismissal were sent to Iliana Yotova as the President of Bulgaria, who appoints and dismisses caretaker ministers.
According to him, the President did not ask for the minister's resignation, but agreed to her request in order to preserve her “dignity and health“. The Prime Minister called for respect for people's personal and health problems.
On Wednesday, Angelina Boneva submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov. The government explained that until a new minister is appointed, the current Deputy Minister of Regional Development Nikolay Naydenov, Chief Assistant Professor at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, will perform the functions.
