585 multi-family residential blocks in the country are being renovated to date with funding under Stage 1 of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan (PVP) under the leadership of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW). All must be completed by June 30 this year, with 51 already fully completed. The funds paid to the municipalities are over 125 million euros. This was announced in Kazanlak by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Dora Yankova. She inspected the completed repair activities in four residential blocks, in which an on-site inspection by the teams of the Monitoring and Reporting Structure in the MRDPW has begun for compliance with the procedures and requirements of the PVP. A total of 18 residential buildings are being renovated in the city under the program.

Yankova reminded that by Decree of the Council of Ministers 22/2026, payments for 463 residential blocks were transferred to the Bulgarian Development Bank, of which 177 are the buildings from Stage 1 of the program. The deadline for their implementation is by the end of 2029.

The Deputy Minister informed that 10 teams with experts from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works are carrying out on-site inspections in the settlements in order to control the implementation of the program guidelines and the repairs carried out. “In March, we have planned 50 inspections, and by the end of June, the blocks in all municipalities will be inspected“, Yankova pointed out. “Our goal is to ensure that the investments are implemented on time and in accordance with the main guidelines of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan“, added the Deputy Regional Minister. She added that the program affects over 150,000 Bulgarian citizens.

Yankova noted that the program is among the most important investments in the housing sector, as it reduces household energy costs, increases the quality of life and improves the urban environment. She reminded that thanks to the efforts of the MRDPW team, the funds under the program have been saved, so that people can benefit from the financing to the maximum.

Earlier, Deputy Minister Yankova and her team held a working meeting with the Mayor of Kazanlak Municipality Galina Stoyanova, with whom they discussed the implementation of the program. During the conversation, the organization of work between the institutions, the progress of construction and repair activities, the necessary actions to meet the deadlines under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan and to accelerate the implementation of the program were discussed.
