Dimitar Petrov: The hole in the Sofia Municipality budget is huge - 1

The Sofia Municipality has always managed the Vrana Park, with the exception of one year when the regional governor did not renew the management contract. I believe that every park in Sofia should be managed by the Sofia Municipality, because it has a vision. There will be an entrance fee, but it will be symbolic - 1-2 euros. This was stated by the municipal councilor from the "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB) Dimitar Petrov in the "Live Day" program on Nova News.

Another property is the notary's park, the house of. At the moment, there is no vision for this space. Maybe it would be good for it to be a cultural space and educational center, which Sofia does not have, he pointed out.

The building at “Rakovski 134“ is important for the history of Sofia. There is no vision for any of these spaces at the moment. They should be for Sofia residents. So far, there has been no case of selling such a building. I guarantee that this will not happen in the future and these spaces will be improved, Petrov assured.

The municipal councilor from the PP-DB also commented on the vision for the development of transport in Sofia. “The team of the deputy mayor for transport must present a strategy and plan that will be based on this funding. Postponing the document without discussion seems like another act of sabotage to me. The plan envisaged a reform of some of the lines in Sofia and the purchase of more environmentally friendly rolling stock – new trolleybuses and buses“, he explained.

Cycle lanes are an extremely high priority for us in the Sofia Municipality, said Dimitar Petrov.

He also announced that on May 10, “Tsarigradsko Shose“ will be closed for several hours due to a major event.

The renovated “Stamboliyski“ Blvd. will be opened at the end of May, it became clear from his words.

In connection with the requested increase in the salaries of drivers in Sofia's public transport, Petrov commented: “The service has not improved at the moment. There continues to be a deficit of 300 drivers. The working conditions in the system have not improved. Which is more important - to improve the working conditions and the quality of the service or to give some money to a hat? The Sofia Municipality does not have that much money at the moment. The hole in the budget is huge. The state should subsidize the service and there should be a real improvement in the service“, he believes.

According to him, the garbage collection service in Sofia has improved. Currently, there are sanctions of 5,000 euros, which is an increase, he added.
