Caretaker prime minister Andrey Gyurov published a video on social networks in which he explains with a drawing on a whiteboard why the state fuel subsidy is 20 euros.

"As in my profession I try to explain complex economic theories to students in simple language, I want to show you what we are doing regarding the increase in fuel prices," said Gyurov.

"We went back in time and saw that people with low incomes spend about 100 euros a month on fuel to fill their cars. In recent days, the increase in fuel prices is about 20%. Thus, the bill goes from 100 euros to 120 euros. When they receive compensation of 20 euros, their bill will remain the same at 100 euros," the prime minister said.

In his words, these 20 euros are "neither a lot nor a little."

"They are exactly the compensation that will help people without hitting their pockets," Gyurov pointed out.

We recall that the 20 euro aid was announced on Sunday. It will be for individuals who have an income up to twice the poverty line, which means below 781 euros.

The funds will be deposited directly into their bank accounts, without the need to submit applications, receive vouchers or use similar mechanisms.
