"BSP is against the exploration and extraction of shale gas in Bulgaria. We hear in this campaign that the idea of such extraction is being revived. However, the complex international situation and rising gas prices do not cancel the risks to the environment, waters and human health associated with shale gas extraction technologies. There are other safer alternatives". This was stated by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP Krum Zarkov during the presentation of the left coalition's list in Dobrich.
He emphasized that there are no sufficient guarantees for safety, and the protection of the environment, water, natural resources and agriculture, especially here, in Dobrudzha, is an absolute priority.
Zarkov recalled that back in 2011, the BSP submitted a bill for a complete ban on the exploration and extraction of shale gas. "Because we believe that such decisions cannot be temporary, cannot be half-hearted. This is not about moratoriums that can be repealed tomorrow. This is about protection - long-term, clear and categorical", Zarkov also said.
"Our list in Dobrich is strong, and the leader Siyana Fudulova is well known in the region and an experienced parliamentarian. "He knows the problems of Dobrudja and will be a sufficient representative of the interests of Dobrudja residents before the institutions in Sofia," commented Zarkov.
