Snowfall temporarily hindered traffic through the Petrohan pass after a heavy truck failed to climb a section of the road and blocked traffic. Cleaning machines were immediately sent to the scene to process the pavement and ensure passability, bTV reported.
In the highest part of the pass, temperatures are negative, and the new snow cover reaches about 15 centimeters. According to eyewitnesses, snow has been falling almost continuously over the past 24 hours.
Only 30-40 kilometers along the northern slope, in the Montana region, the situation is radically different - temperatures reach nearly 10°, the weather is sunny and calm.
Despite the winter conditions of the pass, the road is currently cleaned and sanded, and traffic is proceeding normally. Five vehicles are available, ready to respond if necessary.
The Montana Regional Road Administration announced that the pass and the mountainous areas will remain in winter maintenance mode until mid-April. In case of new snowfalls, a rapid response organization has been created.
