Mayor Terziev: Every city is as strong as the opportunities for its children - 1

“The city is stronger because of the opportunities it creates. “Children's House“ is exactly that - a home of opportunities for every child. A place where every child will have a chance to be heard, supported and encouraged to develop their potential. What we do for children today depends on what kind of society we will be tomorrow.“ This was said by the Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev during the groundbreaking ceremony of the “Children's House“.

The Mayor of Sofia congratulated the “National Children's Network”, the organization that has been working for years to implement this project, and personally Mr. Georgi Bogdanov, Executive Director, for the consistency, efforts and courage to make a dream a reality.

The “National Children's Network“ project envisages the construction of a new community center for child development. “Children's House“ will be a shared space in a supportive environment where children, youth, parents and professionals will work together to help every child grow more confident and successful.

National center with a capacity of up to 200 people

The new social project envisages the creation of a national center that will develop the skills of children and young people - from knowledge of the rights and role of institutions to financial literacy, entrepreneurship, health culture, ecology and leadership. Support will also be provided for parents and families in caring for and communicating with children.

For young people, the “Children's House“ will offer real opportunities for acquiring work skills and participating in the management of activities - especially for those leaving institutions or foster care.

The project is implemented in partnership with the “Regional Center for Support of the Inclusive Education Process - Sofia“ and the “Concordia Bulgaria“ Foundation. The total budget is over 51 million euros, and the implementation is planned by September 2028.

“Children's House“ will be a community center with a capacity of up to 200 people, which will provide five types of publicly accessible social services in accordance with the Social Services Act.

The new social infrastructure will be built at 44 “Sofroniy Vrachanski“ St. The building will be completely new, energy-efficient and organized on three floors, providing flexible spaces for training, meetings and various activities. The center will unite the activities of over 130 organizations, part of the “National Children's Network“.

The Sofia Municipality already provides 117 social services for children, youth and adults. The new project builds on these efforts by contributing to reducing social inequalities and expanding access to quality support through modern infrastructure and a sustainable management model.

Among the official guests were Tsvetomir Petrov - Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, Nikolay Naydenov - Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Hasan Ademov - Minister of Labor and Social Policy and Maria Sylvester, as well as representatives of the initiative “Brigada Nov Dom“.
