Georgi Parvanov: It is not excluded, it is even very likely that there will be 2-in-1 elections in the fall - 1

The President of Bulgaria (2002-2012) Georgi Parvanov is not optimistic that there will be a coalition government after the upcoming early parliamentary elections. He himself stated this on the air of "Oporni Hora".

Elections 2026

"Knowing the main players that we all see and know, and knowing the old folk proverb "Two sharp stones do not grind flour", it is not excluded, it is even very likely that we will go to 2-in-1 elections in the fall", Parvanov predicted to Bulgaria ON AIR.
When asked how big the stakes are in these elections, Parvanov replied: "It will sound trite if I say that it is the future of Bulgaria. Because if we return to that cycle of new caretaker governments and elections, elections, nothing good awaits us. We are surrounded by conflicts on all sides, and this requires a strong, working nationally responsible government, which we do not have at the moment," he pointed out.

The participation of "Progressive Bulgaria"
In his words, participation in power cannot be an end in itself, regardless of who it is with, including "Progressive Bulgaria".

"A commitment to power can only be with very clear mutual commitments, and not simply to be associated and nothing depends on us. No, this time, if there is participation in power, it must be with will, with character, with a clear vision and programmatic statements that we must uphold. If not, we will sit on the bench in opposition for a while to bring back the familiar image of the left," Parvanov said.
According to him, "BSP-United Left" can win back a significant portion of voters.

"I am even ready to bet that the left will be in the next parliament," he was categorical.

Parvanov also commented on Iran's note and the signed 10-year agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine for cooperation in the field of security.
