Inspectors from the "Border Control" Directorate of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) at the "Kalotina" border checkpoint seized nearly half a ton of food and plant protection preparations. The inspection was carried out jointly with officers from the "Customs" Agency and the "Border Police". The Food Safety Agency announced this on its website.
During an inspection of a Bulgarian-registered minibus entering from Serbia, customs officers found minced meat, cheese, red pepper and potatoes without the necessary accompanying documents. 12 packages of preparations prohibited for use in the European Union were also found in the same vehicle. Inspectors from the BFSA were immediately notified of the case. The products have been seized and will be destroyed.
The Agency's control of border checkpoints is constant and protects consumers by preventing non-compliant and potentially dangerous food, feed and preparations from entering the EU territory.
