„I really hope that in these elections, even if there is a dispute over the result, the violations we all witnessed will not be allowed“, said in „Why?“ the chairwoman of the CEC Kamelia Neykova.
„The key place is the section election commissions. This time the CEC is quite categorical and uncompromising regarding many issues related to their work“, Neykova stated.
The CEC is conducting inspections and if there are members of sectional election commissions who are again proposed for the upcoming elections, but have committed violations in the previous ones, it will immediately give instructions to release them.
“We will not allow and will impose sanctions if the requirement of the law is violated, not to make mass replacements of members of sectional election commissions, without having a legal basis for this“, Kamelia Neykova was categorical.
She also explained that the members of the sectional election commissions will receive very basic instructions on how to work with the video surveillance device.
"Ultimately, this is a mobile phone on a stand that looks like a selfie stand. I don't believe there is a member of the CEC who doesn't know how to turn on a mobile device and how to direct it to the ballots and the vote counting process, so that there is visibility," explained Neykova.
The CEC has launched a mobile application for the correct calculation of the results, so that the members of the CECs are maximally facilitated. Neykova showed the application and how to work with it.
She advised the members of the section election commissions, before filling out the original of their protocol, to enter the data into the mobile application, to check so that there are no errors, scribbles and the protocols "do not resemble a battlefield".
She expressed hope that during the next "renovation" of the Electoral Code, all the proposals of the CEC should at least be considered.
„All of them are meaningful and are based on the practical problems that arise when implementing the electoral legislation. I hope that we will be heard so that the electoral process can go much easier and without scandals“, said Neykova.
The CEC Chairman stated that everything is fine with the voting machines. According to her, the machine vote cannot be manipulated and this is confirmed by experts.
„Regarding the paper, this year we again asked the manufacturer for the characteristics that are necessary for the machines to work without problems. They were sent to us, we provided them to the BNB printing house and we have their written guarantee that the paper meets these requirements exactly,“ explained Neykova.
In Bulgaria we will vote with 9354 machines, and in the sections outside the country there are 129.
