Passengers' shoes will now be disinfected at “Vasil Levski“ Airport in Sofia, the airport announced.
In connection with preventive measures introduced by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA), at “Vasil Levski“ Airport – Sofia, special disinfection zones have been set up.
All passengers pass through specialized disinfection insoles designed for processing shoes, according to the instructions on the information signs on site.
The measure was introduced to limit the risk of spreading foot-and-mouth disease, following registered outbreaks in Greece and Cyprus.
The disinfectant used has the trade name “Vulkan S“, with permission from the Ministry of Health No. 3542-1/13.02.2024. The active substance is pentapotassium bis(peroxymonosulfate) bis(sulfate), approved for use by the competent health authorities.
