Homeless people in Ruse received help from the Bulgarian Red Cross for Easter - 1

Nearly 50 people in Ruse will celebrate Easter on the streets. The Bulgarian Red Cross again this year helped the needy homeless and wandering people in the city with a package of the most necessary food products for the holiday, BNT reported.

For several months, Todorka has been living in a van without electricity and water. She survives on whatever she can find. For Easter, however, she relies on the help of volunteers.

Todorka Ivanova: "There is also kozunak, there is what I love the most, both sweet and non-alcoholic."

She says that she lost her husband and two children. After that, she was left on the streets. However, the woman does not lose her faith and prays in church every Sunday.

Todorka Ivanova: "Health, happiness, luck, love and prosperity, and as for me, whatever I find in the future. My life suddenly turned upside down for a few years."

The Red Cross knows her well. And they know that her pain is great.

Antoaneta Yabanozova, director of the Bulgarian Red Cross-Ruse: "She really does not live in good conditions, but she copes because she is a strong woman. It is impressive that Todorka, despite needing help, also thinks about her pets. She also looks for food for them."

Todorka Ivanova: "Where will you celebrate Easter? In the van with the dogs, outside if the weather is nice I have a table, two chairs and that's it – it's still fun."

The vast majority of people who need support refuse to be placed in social institutions. But they are looking for help in obtaining various documents.

Antoaneta Yabanozova, director of the Bulgarian Red Cross-Ruse: "Accordingly, we help them. There are also some who we support for treatment when necessary."
