On the air of the Noon Information Block on NOVA NEWS, Inspector Bogdan Tsvetkov from the Main Directorate of the "National Police" stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has created the necessary organization to secure the entire road network in the country.

"The busiest road sections were the motorways and first-class and second-class roads. On the "Hemus" motorway, a truck crashed in the "Vitinya" tunnel and we recommend that people traveling towards Sofia use alternative routes”, he added.

„Struma“

Serious congestion is reported on the „Struma“ motorway, where traffic towards Sofia is already intense. A traffic jam has formed in the Kresna area when joining the motorway to the main road E79. A column of cars has accumulated mainly because of travelers returning from Greece.

Additional traffic is also being created by fans heading to the capital for the upcoming football derby.

A specialized police operation is also expected to begin on site, during which drivers will be checked for seatbelt use and correctness of documents.

Some of the drivers say that they left early in the morning to avoid heavy traffic, as they had spent hours in traffic jams in previous days. Others describe the traffic as normal in the earlier hours, but warn that the situation traditionally becomes more complicated around lunchtime and in the afternoon.

According to information from NOVA viewers, there is also a traffic jam on the "Hemus" highway in the direction of Sofia, especially in the section from the "Echemishka" tunnel to "Vitinya". They say that they do not move for 15 minutes, and then drive at up to 20 km/h. According to the RIA, the cause was a broken-down truck.

Traffic is expected to remain heavy until late in the day, especially on the main roads to Sofia.
