The mayor of the Kardzhali village of Solishte, Zekerie Aptula, has been detained for participating in a vote-buying scheme for the upcoming elections on Sunday, dariknews.bg reported.
This was announced by the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Georgi Kandev.
He provided money to the owner of a local store in order to attract customers and convince them to vote for a specific political party.
Two witness interviews have already been conducted in the case before a judge. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated.
The investigation continues, and the mayor remains in custody.
