Our biggest goal is to create a Bulgaria where value is created, talents are developed and retained, and innovations are transformed into real opportunities. This was said by acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov at the opening of the "JEREMIE Bulgaria: New Opportunities" forum, organized by the European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group, as well as the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, BTA reports. The new Investment Strategy of the JEREMIE Fund in Bulgaria is to be presented at the event taking place at the Sofia Hilton Hotel. The forum is also attended by the Acting Minister of Innovation and Growth Irena Mladenova, EIB Vice-President Marek Mora and EIF CEO Marjut Falkstead, deputy ministers and representatives of the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem.

According to Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov, the new investment strategy is a choice for investments in ideas, in innovations and in people who create the future.

Andrey Gyurov assured that Bulgaria will support entrepreneurship and the economy with high added value over the next ten years. With the support of companies with targeted financing, an ecosystem and industries of importance not only for Bulgaria, but also for Europe are being created, Gyurov pointed out.

According to him, JEREMIE is proof of how to spend public funds effectively.

Andrey Gyurov thanked the EIB and the EIF for the trust, partnership and shared vision. He also thanked the Ministry of Innovation and Growth for showing that the country can move at the speed of business.

The JEREMIE initiative is a European Commission program, developed jointly with the EIF, that allows member states to use structural funds to finance small businesses through loans, guarantees and equity. It operates through a revolving holding fund, which means that the funds recovered are reinvested in new financial instruments.

The Bulgarian government and EIF representatives agreed at the end of 2025 to extend the JEREMIE initiative until 2035. According to the agreement, 160 million euros will be reinvested and made available to the Bulgarian economy from this year in order to promote deep technologies, technology transfer and projects in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). In mid-February, at first and second reading in one sitting, the parliament adopted the bill on the ratification of the agreements amending and supplementing the Framework and Financing Agreements between the Government of Bulgaria and the European Investment Fund on the implementation of the initiative.
