The Social Assistance Agency has begun the payment of compensation of 20 euros due to the increase in fuel prices, the press center of the MLSP reports. Persons who received social benefits in January and February 2026 did not have to submit applications for the allocation of funds. Their data was sent by the ASA to the National Revenue Agency to verify whether they meet the criteria for receiving the assistance.
Low-income individuals who own a motor vehicle or pay off a car under a leasing contract are entitled to the compensation. In order to receive assistance of 20 euros, their average monthly gross income for 2025 must be up to 652.41 euros, which is twice the amount of the poverty line for last year. The NRA's check showed that 182,856 people meet these criteria, to whom the assistance will be paid automatically.
Nearly 45,000 more individuals who did not receive social assistance from the ASA this year applied for compensation of 20 euros in March. Their applications have already been sent to the NRA for verification. After April 17, compensation payments will begin to those who meet the criteria for granting support.
If the measure is activated in April, citizens who submitted applications in March will receive compensation automatically, without the need to submit a new application.
