After an investigative experiment and a thorough technical examination of the vehicle, it was established that the truck was technically in good condition and could have moved on its own outside the tunnel. This was announced by the acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Georgi Kandev on his Facebook profile.
The data from the inspection indicate that there are no objective technical reasons that would have prevented the driver from clearing the roadway in a timely manner. On the contrary – the car had the necessary functionality to be taken out of the tunnel without external intervention, Kandev points out.
According to him, such actions, regardless of the motives behind them, create a serious risk to traffic safety and lead to significant public inconvenience.
The Ministry of Interior will approach this case with zero tolerance. There is data that gives reason to consider what happened as a deliberate act of sabotage that threatened the safety of citizens and led to serious public consequences. All legal mechanisms will be used to fully reveal the objective truth and to identify the persons behind these actions, Chief Commissioner Georgi Kandev adds.
