The "Vazrazhdane" party will submit a draft resolution to the National Assembly, which would oblige the Bulgarian government to veto financial assistance from the European Commission for Ukraine. This was announced by the chairman of the political formation, Kostadin Kostadinov, BTA reports. The organization's request comes immediately after the European institutions unblocked a new large-scale rescue tranche for Kiev.
Just a day earlier, on April 22, the European Union confirmed the launch of support in the form of a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine. This process became possible after Hungary officially withdrew its long-standing veto on the package. It was these funds that the European Commission intends to provide that caused the sharp reaction of "Vazrazhdane" in our country. According to Kostadinov, the allocation of European money directly harms Bulgarian citizens.
The party leader expressed his categorical disagreement with the European financial policy, arguing his position with the internal deficits in the Bulgarian state and the lack of funds for key sectors.
Kostadin Kostadinov: "This aid that they intend to give to Ukraine will come out of the pockets of each of us. Currently, the Bulgarian state does not have enough money for healthcare, education, social benefits, pensions, there is not enough money for the Bulgarian army, but they will give money to Ukraine. This is not only illogical, but also a betrayal of the Bulgarian people".
The political organization also reaffirmed its previous position against the sending of weapons and equipment. According to them, Bulgaria categorically should not participate in the provision of military aid in a conflict in which two fraternal peoples are fighting. "Vazrazhdane" also added that foreign military aircraft should not be present at the capital's airport, as according to the formation this creates a direct threat to the country's national security.
