Sociologist from the “Myara“ agency Parvan Simeonov commented on the political situation after the elections and the possible processes in the new parliament, analyzing both the results of the parties and their internal turmoil.
Simeonov commented on the situation in GERB and the processes surrounding the party: “GERB should have heard the sign of these protests. The sign was renewal. Well, with all due respect to everyone, but what sign of renewal did GERB give? Almost none in these elections.“
He also pointed out specific examples of leaving party structures: “Vladislav Goranov, leader of a list, for example. Opposite you see that Zhivko Todorov is leaving the leadership, Georgi Georgiev is also giving up active politics at this stage.“
In his words, GERB has not done enough for renewal: “GERB is wrong by not allowing any form of renewal. GERB is Borisov. This is clear. It is clear that Borisov has been sounding extremely bitter, irritated for a long time.“
Simeonov added: “This is a very wrong advisor who got angry with his people, he has always lost.“
According to him, the public desire for change is clearly expressed: “These are over 1 million and 400 thousand votes. This is comparable to the GERB wave, it was 1 million and 700 thousand.“
In his analysis for “We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria“ he pointed out: “This has always happened. That is, maybe that's why it doesn't impress us so much. They are an individualistic space.“
And he added: “The liberal community is usually individualistic. It is more of a network than a monolithic structure.“
Simeonov also commented on the internal dynamics: “They are on the verge of splitting, people. In my opinion, they are barely surviving inside.“
Regarding possible interactions between political camps, he stated: “There are still places where the Radev-Yotov principle and the PP-DB principle may find an intersection.“
According to him, the political picture is dynamic and unstable: “There should be a little generosity. This is the right approach in this particular case.“
Simeonov also touched on the topic of institutions and justice, stating: “General prevention, i.e. some people came out and it worked, Dechev and Kandev.“
According to him, society has high expectations: “The truth is that people are thirsty for a real boost. For some real traction.“
In his analysis of the BSP, he pointed out: “The BSP also has Iliyana Yotova. The BSP also has MEPs. The BSP is not dead.“
And he added: “The BSP is an authentic tradition.“
Regarding the MRF, Simeonov said: “This space voted for Radev in the smallest part. And by the way, it also hides in the exit poll, which shows how much fear there is.“
