A motorcyclist from Romania died and five people were injured in the accident near Tsar Kaloyan, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Razgrad announced.
The report of the traffic accident was received at 9:05 a.m. The incident occurred in the section between Tsar Kaloyan and the fish farms in the direction of Ruse. According to police information, a passenger car “Toyota Celica“, driven by a 20-year-old man from Popovo, skidded on a wet section, began to meander along the road, then turned around and came to a stop across the lane on the last right turn before the fish farms. At that moment, three motorcycles were passing through the section, traveling from Ruse to Razgrad. The first two managed to avoid a collision, but the third motorcycle hit the car. As a result of the impact, a Romanian motorcyclist died on the spot.
A BMW car with a Ruse registration plate moving behind them also hit it and went off the road, overturning into a ditch. The car was carrying a 58-year-old man from the village of Bazan, who was driving the car, his 55-year-old wife, their 35-year-old daughter and their 10-year-old granddaughter. The injured, as well as the driver of the Toyota, were transported to hospital with various injuries and traumas. Their condition is being clarified, according to the Ministry of Interior's Regional Office in Razgrad.
An inspection of the accident is being carried out on site. The road remains closed, and vehicles should use the announced detour routes.
