Bulgarian citizens showed during the protests that we are a democratic society, and in the elections they stated this categorically, because they exercised their right to vote despite fear and manipulation. This was said by Mihaela Dotsova, who was elected as a deputy of „Progressive Bulgaria” on the air of „Your Day” on NOVA NEWS.
„Rumen Radev has proven that he is a statesman-minded person and quite democratically thinking”, she emphasized. And she added that there is a dialogue in their group, and decisions are made collectively.
She said that during the caretaker cabinet, there was activity on the part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in terms of the fight against the bought and controlled, but more could have been desired. Dotsova emphasized that the next action should be on the part of the prosecutor's office - the facts collected during the pre-trial proceedings related to those arrested for vote buying should stand up in court, so that charges can be brought.
Dotsova also answered the question about relations with Russia as follows: “Bulgaria is a member of the EU and must remain so, as a worthy partner that participates steadily in the decision-making process. This means both assistance in forming European policies and values, and protection of the national interest. No one from “Progressive Bulgaria” has ever questioned the European development of the country”. Dotsova also added the following: “We are part of the big European family and part of the big NATO family. But in any case, we participate steadily in decision-making in both unions. I have not heard anyone state a direction for Bulgaria to be removed from NATO”.
Regarding the topic of the referendum on the euro, she said that it was “unserious to change any currency in six months”. And she added that the question of the referendum was not whether to adopt the euro, but when is the time for its introduction and whether we are sufficiently prepared for it. She was also categorical that “there is no possibility” to discuss the return of the leva.
On the topic of removing the security of Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski, Dotsova said that even now there is an option in the law to review the need for security for a given person.
On the topic of the Prosecutor General, Dotsova believes that “we are noticing some rearrangement”. According to her, this requires “after the constitution of the National Assembly, the first and immediate action should be to create new rules for the election of members of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Inspectorate from the parliamentary quota, as well as the election of a new Prosecutor General”.
